Peter McCarthy

Managing Director

Principal Instructor & Health and Safety Advisor

Peter left the RAF in March 2011 and in the October 2012 started Direct First Aid Ltd to bring forward his idea of fun, friendly and interactive first aid training.

Peter has a comprehensive knowledge of first aid, which he has practiced in all the operational areas that he has been deployed; he has also given his time to the Ambulance Service when he was posted to RAF Coltishall on their First Response Team.

Peter is fully qualified in first aid; both the first aid at work and paediatric first aid. He also has qualifications in a host of other areas of training. He achieved his Pre Teaching in the Life Long Sector (PTLLS) level 3 (City and Guilds) and is now studying for his Certificate in Teaching in the Life Long Sector (CTLLS) level 4 (City and Guilds).

Peter has a passion for teaching and first aid and brings a wealth of knowledge to everything he trains.

Peter enjoys triathlons, mountain biking, kayaking, snowboarding, walking and camping.

Kt Jones

South Coast Area and Office Manager


Kt has been working in the security sector now for many year. Kt is one of Direct First Aids Senior medics and has recently taken on the position of the South Coast Area Manager as well as the Office Manager. Kt will be responsible for managing the teams in the south coast area. Kt will also be responsible for new medics and expanding our team as well as being responsible for providing our awesome customer service clients both old and new on the south coast.

KT Brings a wealth of knowledge from her security background and also from working with Dorset Fire and Rescue Service.

Kt enjoys Rugby, keeping fit, music and spending time with her loved one.

Lee Wood

South Coast Assistant Area Manager

Instructor and Medic

Lee Wood Served a full career in the British Army. Joining the Royal Army Medical Corps as a Combat Medical Technician and later transferring to the the Army Air Corps. During his career He served numerous operational tours in Northern Ireland and Iraq. The last years of his career saw him serving as an instructor delivering joint service training to British and Allied forces personnel. Since leaving the military Lee has worked as a first aid instructor and until recently was employed as a trainer for the British Red Cross.

Along with KT, Lee is responsible for the South Coast and instructing on various course and contracts including Pediatric First Aid and Manual Handling.

Lee enjoys spending time with his wife and children and in his spare time enjoys playing war games.

Linda Varley-England

Health and social care lead Trainer

Medic(Nurse) & Health and Safety Advisor

Linda brings a wealth of knowledge from the healthcare sector. As a qualified Nurse linda has been working in this sector for over 20 year. Linda has a passion for teaching students. Linda is also a qualified holistic therapist and enjoys her practice this. Linda also is a qualified Health and Safety advisor and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in this sector also.

Linda is responsible for the delivery of all our health care training nation wide.

Linda enjoy spending time with her family and many animals including her dogs and ducks to name a few.

I now understand why I need to look after my back. Manual handling has never been a priory for me but after this course I think I will be putting it at the fore front of what I do
